Progress report for the Saturday March 19 and Sunday March 20, 2022 GGRM workdays at Schellville
The Saturday March 19th and the Sunday March 20, 2022 workdays were focused on GGRM passenger cars located at the Victory Station Yard and the Sonoma Rail storage site at Schellville.
The primary emphasis was on the tasks required to get the 145 seat bi-level gallery cars and #141 Oakland business car ready for operation.
Thanks go out to the GGRM volunteers listed below who helped make the March 19th and March 20th Schellville workday productive:
David Waterman, Nico Dacong, Steve Coon, Jay King, Garrett Brisbee, Tim Dulin, and Ron Vane.
Below is the progress report for the Saturday March 19 and Sunday March 20, 2022 workdays.
At the Victory Station Yard worksite:

8. The GGRM EIC is required to send a text to NWPCo General Manager Ryan Martin when flag and derail protection has been taken down at the Victory Station Yard and the north leg of the Schellville wye. Done by Jim Prettyleaf on March 19 and Garrett Brisbee on March 20.
At the Sonoma Rail worksite in Schellville:
2. Start and run the diesel gen sets on the #3722 and #3720 gallery cars. Could not start the gen-set on the #3720 gallery car because the batteries are sulfated and need to be replaced. Charged #3720’s batteries all day, but still could not start the gen-set. The get-set on the #3722 gallery car has developed governor problems, the governor cannot maintain the correct engine rpm to generate 60-Hertz AC power. After startup, the generator initially runs at the correct rpm for a few minutes but then begins hunting between a low speed idle and the correct rpm.
3. Air up #3720 and #3722, then troubleshoot the defective door controls located at the south end of #3722. Done by Jim Prettyleaf and David Waterman. Found two broken Honeywell micro switches, one defective 2,000 ųF 50-volt capacitor, and disconnected wiring inside the defective sliding end door. All of the components needed to complete the necessary repairs have been ordered and are expected to arrive before the next March 26, 2022 workday.
4. Continue vacuuming and washing seats and mopping the floors of the #3720 and the #3722 cars. No action taken during the March 19 and March 20, 2022 workdays.
5. Inspection and cleaning of the window shades in the #3722 and #3720 gallery cars. No action taken during the March 19 and March 20, 2022 workdays.
6. Make a list showing the location and number of window shades that will require replacement. No action taken during the March 19 and March 20, 2022 workdays.
7. Continue the work needed to select the gallery car with the least number of problems and concentrate on bringing #3720 or #3722 up to operational status. This item is in progress by Jim Prettyleaf.
8. Inspect #3720 and #3722 and make a list of any parts that are missing, broken or inoperable. No action taken during the March 19 and March 20, 2022 workdays.
