Progress report for the Saturday January 29, 2022 GGRM workday at Schellville
The Saturday January 29, 2022 GGRM workday was focused on the following items at the Victory Station Yard and the Sonoma Rail storage site at Schellville.
Emphasis was on the tasks needed to get the GGRM’s passenger cars ready for operation.

Below is the progress report for the Saturday’s January 29, 2022 workday.
At the Victory Station Yard worksite:
1. The GGRM EIC is required to send a text to NWPCo General Manager Ryan Martin when flag and derail protection has been set at the Victory Station Yard and the north leg of the Schellville wye. Done Jim Prettyleaf.
2. Install new control system for the #2979 Tavern Car’s air conditioning and heating. Significant progress by Seth Adams, a separate report will be distributed.
3. Weather permitting continue stripping, repairing, and painting the roof of the #141 Oakland Business Car. Significant progress by Steve Coon, Nico Dacong and David Waterman.
4. Complete more electrical work required to get #141 Oakland running. Tim Dulin routed wires and powered up the Northwest Railcar heating and air conditioning controller.
5. Remeasure the O.D. and I.D. of #141 Oakland’s the train line conduits. When facing east these are the two smaller diameter conduits located on the right-hand side of the junction box. Done by Nico Dacong, the O.D. is 1” and I.D is 1-1/4”.
6. Remeasure the spacing between #141 Oakland’s two train line conduits. Done by Nico Dacong, the center-to-center spacing is 2”.
7. Continue sorting out and reorganizing the contents of the #6752 Diesel Shop Car and the #5131 Steam Shop Car prior to the start of operations. No action taken during the Jan 29, 2022 workday.

At the Sonoma Rail worksite in Schellville:
2. Apply never-seize to the flat-head screws for the truck center pin covers. Owner Jim Prettyleaf. Done by Burr Williams.
3. Locate the source of the leaks in #3720’s and #3722’s water tanks. Significant progress by Steve Rusconi.
4. Install the good sink cannibalized from #3714 into #3722’s restroom. No action taken during the Jan 29, 2022 workday.
5. Continue vacuuming and washing seats and mopping the floors of the #3720 and the #3722 cars. Excellent progress by Mile Pechner and Burr Williams.
6. Inspect and clean the window shades in the #3722 and #3720 gallery cars. No action taken during the Jan 29, 2022 workday.
7. Make a list showing the location and number of window shades that will require replacement. No action taken during the Jan 29, 2022 workday.
8. Continue the work needed to select the gallery car with the least number of problems and concentrate on bringing #3720 or #3722 up to operational status. In progress by Jim Prettyleaf.
9. Inspect #3720 and #3722 and make a list of any parts that are missing, broken or inoperable. No action taken during the Jan 29, 2022 workday.
Ongoing Offsite Projects that Support Schellville Workday Objectives
- A new documented system for controlling the air-conditioning and heating on our museum’s passenger cars is nearing completion and is scheduled to be installed in the #2979 Tavern Car during the January 29, 2022 Schellville workday. This new control system has been completed by Seth Adams and is ready for installation in the #2979 Tavern Car on Jan 29, 2022.
- Repair the broken braided steel cable that controls the doorway occupied sensor switch for the pneumatically operated door at the south end of #3722. Done by Jay King on Jan 27, 2022.
- Locate a supplier for the 0.080” inch thick fabric backed rubber sheets need to make new sliding door boots. Done by Jim Prettyleaf on Jan 21st, ordered Grainger item # 36TA33, delivery expected before Feb 10, 2022.
- Continue reviewing the existing FRA F6180-49A forms that were on file in the #6752 diesel shop car. Complete fresh 92-day inspections and create updated Blue Cards for the GGRM’s diesel-electric locomotives. In progress, owner is Jim Prettyleaf.
- Find and purchase a currently available functionally equivalent power contactor to replace the three-phase contactor that was cannibalized from #3714’s north end low range electric resistance heater. In progress Seth Adams and Jim Prettyleaf.
Objectives that have been deferred until a future time.
- The restoration of the #3714 gallery car
- Working on the air conditioning system of #3720 and #3722 per the written plan submitted by Seth Adams.
- Creation of a written record of the repairs needed for the #3720 and 3722 gallery car’s CO2 fire systems prior to a visit from AAA Fire Suppression Services.
- Repair the broken sink that was removed from #3722. Owner Garrett Brisbee.
- Manufacture and install of replacements for the arm rests that have been cannibalized from #3714.
- Prepare the gallery cars for painting.
