Progress report for the Saturday's February 19, 2022 GGRM workday at Schellville

 The Saturday February 19, 2022 GGRM workday was focused on the following items at the Victory Station Yard at Schellville.

 

The primary emphasis was on the tasks required to get the #141 Oakland Business Car ready for operation and completion of the 92-day inspection of GP9 #3194.

Below is the progress report for the Saturday February 19, 2022 workday.

 

At the Victory Station Yard worksite:

1.           The GGRM EIC is required to send a text to NWPCo General Manager Ryan Martin when flag and derail protection has been set at the Victory Station Yard and the north leg of the Schellville wye.  Done Jim Prettyleaf.

2.           The fresh 92 - day inspection of GP9 #3194 is 88% complete, need to finish the remaining 12% of the required inspections and tests.  Done by Scott Vogel, David Waterman, and Jim Prettyleaf.

3.           Attach the air filter housing for the Westinghouse cross-compound air compressor to #2472’s running board.  Done by David Waterman and Scott Vogel.

4.           Weather permitting continue stripping, repairing, and painting the roof of the #141 Oakland Business Car.  More progress made by Steve Coon and Garrett Brisbee.

5.           Continue the inspection of the copper air conditioning plumbing installed in the #141 Oakland to confirm that the current routing is correctly understood.  Steve Rusconi, Jay King, and Jim Prettyleaf confirmed the location of the existing air conditioning plumbing and confirmed that the existing pressure and suction refrigerant pipes cannot be reused and must be replaced.  Careful examination and consideration was also given to the proposed alternative routing of the replacement piping that will need to be routed to complete the Oakland’s new Northwest Rail Electric air conditioning system. 

6.           Continue the electrical wiring installations that are needed to get the #141 Oakland Business Car running again.  No action taken during the Feb 19, 2022 workday.

7.           Make a list of the hoses and adapters required to connect the fire hoses, to the strainer, resin trap and the water meter.  More actions will be taken mid-week by Jim Prettyleaf David Waterman and Steve Rusconi to complete this project. 

8.           Continue sorting out and reorganizing the contents of the #6752 Diesel Shop Car and the #5131 Steam Shop Car prior to the start of operations.  No action taken during the Feb 19, 2022 workday.

9.           The GGRM EIC is required to send a text to NWPCo General Manager Ryan Martin when flag and derail protection has been taken down at the Victory Station Yard and the north leg of the Schellville wye.  Done Jim Prettyleaf.

 

At the Sonoma Rail worksite in Schellville:

No action was taken on the gallery car projects located at the Sonoma Rail worksite during the Feb 19, 2022 workday so that emphasis could be placed on higher priority projects at the Victory Station Yard.  Work at the Sonoma Rail worksite is scheduled to resume during the next GGRM workday that will occur on February 26, 2022..

 

Ongoing Offsite Projects that Support Schellville Workday Objectives

 

1.     Locate a supplier for the 0.080” inch thick fabric backed rubber sheets need to make new sliding door boots.  Done by Jim Prettyleaf on Jan 21st, ordered Grainger item #36TA33.  Delivery was expected before Feb 10, 2022 but has not yet been received due to supply chain delays, Jim Prettyleaf has located other suppliers that can potentially make delivery sooner.

2.     Order the hoses and adapters needed to complete the treatment system for #2472’s feedwater.  Owners Jim Prettyleaf, David Waterman, and Steve Rusconi.

3.     Find and purchase a currently available functionally equivalent power contactor to replace the three-phase contactor that was cannibalized from #3714’s north end low range electric resistance heater.  In progress Seth Adams and Jim Prettyleaf.  

  1. Manufacture and install of replacements for the arm rests that have been cannibalized from #3714.  In progress by Jay King.

 

Objectives that have been deferred until a future time.

 

1.     The restoration of the #3714 gallery car

2.     Working on the air conditioning system of #3720 and #3722 per the written plan submitted by Seth Adams.  

3.     Creation of a written record of the repairs needed for the #3720 and 3722 gallery car’s CO2 fire systems prior to a visit from AAA Fire Suppression Services.  

4.     Repair the broken sink that was removed from #3722.  Owner Garrett Brisbee.  

5.     Prepare the gallery cars for painting.
